Subject: 05 Grand Cherokee jerky tranny

This is my 3rd jeep and have loved them all and this one has been great also. The only problem I am having with this one is when I come to a stop from about 25 mph the transmission doesnt ease through all the gears until I stop. Instead when I am almost stopped, its as if it skips or jerks into 2nd gear. Kind of hard to explain. Its fine accelerating, on the highway or any other kind of driving. Its only when coming to a stop. I have read of a few people online having this problem. I have had it a year and a half 33,000 miles when I got it and has always done this now has 60,000 miles on it and think if I need to take it to have it checked I need to do so before 70,000 when the warranty expires. I have gotten used to going slower to a stop to prevent this. Anyone else have this experience?

The car, Grand Cherokee V-8, 1999, needs about 20 - 30 seconds of cranking, before it starts. Once it starts the rpm increases up to 1200 and then falls back to normal 600. When it is running acceleration is perfect. Why this hard starting? By the way, it used to be perfect and changed 'overnight'.

I have a 1999 jeep cherokee sport 4.0 automatic with approx 184k. it hesitates and slightly jerks while driving almost like its fighting to get gas. I pulled code P0201. I then replaced injector and 0 ring on cyl #1, checked for fault, and cleaned fuel rail. Still problem continues. I replaced 6 mos ago IAC and TPS and had full tune up. I was told probably not fuel pump because it either works or not. Any ideas?

Hello I have a 98 grand Cherokee with 184000 miles. My problem is that after about 20 minutes of driving the jeep will start to hesitate and act like it is cutting out when I push down on the accelerator. I have found that if I put it in neutral and shut it 0ff for a minute and then restart it will run like a champ again for awhile

Subject: 89 jeep cherokee low rpms and stall issue

Date: 5/28/2010 9:23:00 PM

I bought an 89 Jeep Cherokee off a friend my mechanic and I noticed one day that the throttle was stuck and I had to tie the wires off under the dash to keep them from catching on the accelerator. Soon after this my rpms run low and when I first hit the accelerator it tries to die out. Also I notice going down the road sometimes it will try to stall out everyone I have talked to says the cps but I have no clue where its located at or how to get to it I would need a picture. Needs some help and suggestions.

Kind of a long story but here it goes... But first some technical specs...

1995 Jeep Grand Cherokee Laredo
5.2 V8
240,000 miles.

Bought the vehicle, Drove out great. Brought it home in the rain. Left the lights on (no dinger) and the battery was drained. Came back to start it... NO GO. Tried Jumping it off, NO GO. Unhooked the battery, and reinstalled it... Security system went off( no horn, just lights flashing) Turned it off by using the key in the PASSENGER door. Tried to start again.. NO GO.

After checking fuses and checking the custom radio installation, i finally have IOD power and fuel. Still no spark.

Engine will turnover, but wont catch and start. Checked ignition coil.. GOOD
have yet to take off the distributor cap, but was told it may be an IGNITION PICKUP SENSOR. Does this model have one of those, or just a Crankshaft and/or a Camshaft position sensor? and Could this be the reason why i dont have any fire going to the coil?

Subject: 95 Wrangler engine won't turn over

I recently stalled out my engine in traffic, but was rolling and just popped my clutch out to start it instead of cranking the starter. I got back okay, but later when I tried to start it, nothing happened. All the dashboard lights went on, but the engine wouldn't turn over. I did the "check engine" thing with the PCM to retrieve the codes, which were 12, 33, and 21. We all know that 12 means the battery was disconnected, but does it also mean that no juice is going to the PCM?

I replaced fuse #1 in the diagnostic box, but it solved nothing. I checked the PCM wires at the PCM, and didn't see anything wrong. All the cables and wiring look okay...so what's the problem? I did find that the positive battery cable was moveable on the terminal, the bolt had come off, but I replaced it. If somehow power was lost from that positive cable while the negative ground was connected, would that short out the battery and be the cause of the problem? My headlights go on and are bright, so I'm not sure the battery is the problem.
