Subject: 1999 Jeep Grand Cherokee Limited liftgate problem Posted By: CJ PrussenDate: 11/18/2009 1:05:00 PM

Been a bad month for my Jeep is has 163'000 with 4.7 and runs like new but the Heater & AC blows out air not hot or cold. Speed sensor broke can't tell how fast I'm going. Pass. window stoped working. But what really got me going crazy is the liftgate icon showing the liftgate door is open when it is not. I pulled the panel off and unpluged every connection but it still shows. With that icon on nothing else will show. Any ideas before I park this on some railroad track.

Subject: 1995 Cherokee Temperature Sensor Posted By: scott zuberDate: 7/23/2009 8:23:00 PM

I have a 1995 4.0L. The last three times I have driven it (and it's hot here in LA) once I turn it off, the overflow at the radiator blasts fluid for about 10 seconds or so...emptying the overflow reservoir...I have added antifreeze water mox each time through the overflow (not directly into the radiator) and it just does it again. Took it to Pep Boys and they said that it didn't do it for them...they went ahead and replaced the temperature sensor ...which in ten minutes the NEW one went out on them...they have no idea what it could be and suggested I take it to the dealer or a Jeep specialist...The idiot light on the dash does not light when I turn the ignition to the start position either...I suppose this might be due to the bad temperature sensor? Any Ideas?

Subject: 97 jeep grand cherokee keeps cranking but wont turn over Posted By: Steve ODate: 7/8/2009 3:09:00 AM

So all of a sudden in the past three days my 97 Grand Cherokee will give me a hard time. I will get in and try and start it up and it will just continue to crank but will not turn over. After about 3 or 4 trys and it will turn over and spit and sputter and then die. To keep it going I give it some gas and it keeps it going. After I turn it off for about 2 hours i get in and try to start it again and it will do the same thing. Also some of the new stuff I have put in the car is as follows: new spark plugs, plug wires, distributor, rotor, and battery in the car in January.
Does anyone know anything? Please help

Difficulty starting...first time wouldn't start then when it did the check engine light came on and held steady. The date and time indicator are now reflecting incorrect data. What might be causing this.

I have a Wrangler that wont start. It is intermittent and when I turn the key I get nothing. I checked the voltage at the battery and the alternator and they both look good. The cables appear to be in good condition and no corrosion. I am wondering if there is a starter relay on these that might be going bad. Any help would be appreciated.

Subject: 1998 Jeep Wrangler Ignition/Headlight Won't Stop Beeping Posted By: David WileDate: 6/1/2009 9:14:00 PM

All of a sudden, my headlight/ignition buzzer/beeper won't stop beeping. When the key is in, it's fine. As soon as I take the key out it starts beeping, like I left my headlights on or something. But they aren't on! Agghh! Doors are closed, fuses all good, headlights off, dome light off, keys in my hand and the thing just keeps beeping! One more thing, I can take my keys out of the ignition while it is still running...obviously the tumblers are going bad I presume? Tried WD-40, canned air, sliding the key in and out, jiggling the key repeatedly, banging on the butt of the key while in the ignition. Can someone please tell me how to either fix this or how to disconnect it? PLEASE. Thank You.

got a gc about a month ago, had been sitting for about a year...Started out with pretty major issues, but with a lot of tinkering, i have gotten most of the bugs worked out... At this point, i have a slight miss at idle and backfires into the intake under full throttle while in park... the confusing part is that it drives fine under full throttle while driving, but if youre going 50 mph or more and slam the pedal, the backfire returns... i can get it over 50, but i have to ease the throttle to do so...Any help or suggestions would be greatly appreciated!! im getting to my wits end. so far, ive changed cap, rotor, plugs, wires, coil, tps, iac, cps, ect, tranny cooler, cat, muffler, tranny filter, fuel filter, o2 sensor, u-joints, rebuilt rear end, and battery... no codes at all, i siphoned the bad gas out and am halfway through 2nd tank... im thinking fuel injectors because the fuel pressure is constant...has anyone else experienced this?

My Rubi makes a "errrnt" sound at 45-47 mph. It makes this noise only at these speeds. Unfortunately, most of our city limit speeds at 45 mph. I thought it might be a vibration from a heat shield around one of the cattys. The exhaust seems to be in good shape. There are no movement in the exhaust. The sound seems to be under the vehicle (by the cattys or exhaust manifolds). It does have locker front and rear axles, which I "by-passed" the axle switch with an toggle switch, to allow locking the front and rear in 2wd and 4-hi. This described noise began about a year later. Anyone have any ideas? I've thought about changing out the exhaust. It has been doing this for 6 months now with no change. The Jeep runs great and the Lockers engage perfectly. Thanks for any advice. Rob McElyea
